What an amazing month May has been for Mooglow! Since the release on May 1st we have been able to share our book’s journey with many children and adults. We were honored to meet other local authors at one of our local libraries meet and greet programs at the beginning of the month. Then we had the pleasure of presenting “The Making of the Book Moonglow” to many students at our local schools; Mattituck-Cutchogue East Cutchogue School, Peconic Community School, New Suffolk School and Time to Grow pre-school.
What are the kids reading?
June is not the time to present to children in hot classrooms with summer vacation looming! So our goal is to expand this program to many other schools on the east end for the next school year.
Speaking of summer vacation… Does your child’s teacher require a summer reading list? Or possibly as a parent or grandparent, do you encourage reading throughout the summer? I know I do, as a retired teacher but even more so as a grandparent, I know the value of children reading during the summer. I find the quiet morning hours, before thoughts of the beach or play dates interfere with young minds, is the best time to set aside a quiet time to read. I always keep a good book handy for myself so I can model good reading habits while my grandchildren read. Have a wonderful, safe, fun-filled summer. And don’t forget to “look closely outside the next time you wake at night and see a full moon, for you never know what you just might see”.
